Cairns Beaches

Cairns beaches are some of the most beautiful beaches in Australia.  The beautiful blue waters of the Coral Sea gently lap against golden sandy beaches with tall palm trees swaying with the warm breeze in the background.

The further North you go; the more isolated the beaches become.  Imagine the luxury of having some of the most

stunning beaches in the world all to yourself.

City Without a Beach?

Cairns is the perfect place for beach holidays.  But, you would be forgiven if you felt a little disappointed by the beach off the Cairns Esplanade.

Okay, so Cairns doesn’t really have a tropical beach off the Esplanade.  But they do have the ‘Lagoon’.

The Esplanade has been completely transformed with the Lagoon as the focal point.   The Lagoon is kind of like a giant swimming pool on steroids.

The Cairns foreshore is filled with grassy areas, bar-be-ques and picnic tables, walking tracks, exercise areas, cafes and shops.

Cairns Beaches

While Cairns itself doesn’t have the standard beach that seems to come with most Australian coastal cities; it’s only a stones throw from some of the most beautiful beaches in Australia.

Cairns Northern Beaches are spread out along 26 kilometers of the beautiful Far North Queensland coastline.

Machans Beach and Holloways Beach

The two closest of the Cairns beaches are Machans Beach and Holloways Beach. They are mostly residential areas but Holloways Beach does have swimming enclosure that you can swim in during stinger season.

Yorkeys Knob

Yorkeys Knob is another of the beautiful Cairns beaches.  It has the Half Moon Bay Golf Club.  Nothing beats a round of golf on a course where a gentle sea breeze cools down you in the tropical heat.  The views of the Marina and the Coral Sea are just stunning.

Trinity Beach

Cairns Beaches - Trinity Beach

Trinity Beach is one of the most popular of Cairns Northern Beaches.  It has a very relaxed vibe with lots of shops and eateries.

There’s also a wide variety of accommodation to choose from with something for everyone.

Kewarra Beach and Clifton Beach

Kewarra Beach and Clifton Beach are residential so they retain their very relaxed, low-key lifestyle.

These Cairns beaches are perfect if you’re looking for a very quiet and chilled out beach holiday.

Palm Cove

Palm Cove is the jewel in the crown of Cairns Northern Beaches.  It’s luxury all the way here; from five star resorts and holiday accommodation to the award winning restaurants and boutique shops.

Cairns Beaches

All of Cairns beaches are easily accessed by local buses.  There are all kinds of water sports to keep you busy; everything from sea kayaking, windsurfing and jet-skiing to just swimming and laying around on some of Australia’s most stunning beaches.

The best thing about Cairns Beaches is that they extend all the way to Port Douglas.
